Concert Band
The BRHS Concert Band is one of three curricular band offerings. This ensemble is comprised of 9th grade wind and percussion students. Enrolled band students get to meet as an ensemble to rehearse every day. Students get many more hours of rehearsal/instruction (approx. 2 hours more per week than current middle school rehearsal schedule) and subsequently typically experience a significant level of growth in the first year of high school.
The goals of the Concert Band primarily promote the development of core ensemble skills - emphasizing values of preparation, punctuality, rehearsal etiquette, development of ensemble listening skills, expression, and critical thinking. It is the only ensemble comprised of a single class (9th grade) so that the development of these ensemble skills is comprehensive in the first year of high school band.
All incoming 9th graders that had participated in band at the middle school should be enrolled in Concert Band!

Symphonic Band
The BRHS Symphonic Band is the second of three curricular band offerings. This ensemble meets daily and is comprised of 10th, 11th, and 12th grade wind and percussion students. Students involved in Symphonic Band all share the common bond of enjoying music making and playing in band at the next level beyond Concert Band.
The goals of the Symphonic Band aim to continue ensemble development as an extension of the Concert Band experience while maximizing opportunities for higher level critical listening, thinking, expression, and performance. The Symphonic Band participates in annual state-adjudicated festival in addition to the regular concert schedule at the high school and has included some professional experiences as well. The Symphonic Band also aims to promote chamber music within the large ensemble and in small ensembles for all wind and percussion students.

Wind Ensemble
The BRHS Honors Wind Ensemble is the third curricular band offering. This auditioned ensemble rehearses daily during the school day and includes extra rehearsal hours throughout the school year outside of class time. The ensemble is comprised of 10th, 11th, and 12th grade wind, percussion, and occasionally orchestral (string/piano) musicians. As the flagship ensemble of the BRHS Band Program, the Wind Ensemble is comprised of the highest caliber musicians of the program that are challenged with high level repertoire, frequently study privately outside of school, are involved heavily in regional and state honors ensembles, and often double on additional instruments.
The goals of the Wind Ensemble include development of ensemble skills at the highest level of music making. The Wind Ensemble also participates in a variety of ambitious professional experiences which have historically included recording projects, application and entry to national and state festivals, composer residencies and commissions, exchange programs with neighboring high school performing arts programs, advanced chamber ensemble experiences, and collegiate level repertoire.
